Following the launch of the brand’s sustainable vodka, Sapling Spirits has added a climate-positive British gin to its range.

The gin is being launched at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition (22 September 2021 — 2 January 2022) via the Sapling Greenhouse Bar. Available on the Sapling website from November, the gin will enter into the on-trade in January. The London Dry Sapling Gin is 40% ABV and retails for £34.00.

Sapling Spirits, founded in 2018 by Ed Faulkner and Ivo Devereux, aims to create sustainable change in the drinks industry. Sapling uses extremely local ingredients and suppliers to accurately track environmental impact and reduce transport emissions.

In line with Sapling’s green mission, the gin is distilled using Wildfarmed’s nutritious stone-milled grain, grown through regenerative farming and the concept of rewilding.

Sapling pledges to plant a tree for every bottle of spirit sold. The company’s planting projects take place across the UK, in communities where they will have a positive impact. Sapling has planted 23,306 trees so far. Sapling is currently involved in an urban planting scheme in London, which has seen fruit trees spring up in central locations like Elephant & Castle.

The London Dry Sapling Gin is a twist on the classic London dry, with bold juniper and hints of zest and rosemary. According to its makers, the spirit is best enjoyed in a classic G&T, or mixed to make a negroni or gin martini.

Sapling Spirits’ most recent launch was a collaboration with Cotswolds hotel Whatley Manor. The pair developed a vodka infused with waste fruit peel from the hotel’s restaurant in celebration of zero waste week.

Sapling Spirits featured in our round-up of ten drinks brands created by famous chefs, alongside the likes of Michel Roux Jr and Gordon Ramsay. Read more on that, and find out which chefs have been cooking up the best cocktails, here.
