Five of this year’s best festive pop-ups in London

HIDEAWAY

Hide’s comforting nest egg

Piccadilly

Chef Ollie Dabbous will be bringing a pared down version of the Michelin-starred wine mecca Hide in Mayfair to Piccadilly this winter, in the form of a pop-up called Hideaway.

In contrast to its flagship restaurant, opened last year by the owners of Mayfair wine retailer Hedonism Wines, this spin off restaurant will have the look at feel of a “Parisian bistro”.

Hideaway will serve up coffees and croissants, oysters and champagne and dishes including Hide’s chicken liver parfait with fig and hibiscus chutney and home-cured goose with fenugreek.

Plenty of wines will also be available, from the Hedonism cellars, as well as a hot Christmas gin punch. Guests will also be able to purchase a selection of Hide’s jams and chutneys to take away.

Hideaway will run from 19 November to February 2019 in the Burlington Arcade on Piccadilly.

QUEEN OF HOXTON’S ROOFTOP MOULIN ROUGE-INSPIRED WIGWAM

Shoreditch

The rooftop of Shoreditch venue The Queen of Hoxton takes many guises, transformed twice yearly into a magical spot for night time imbibing in the winter, or a sun trap in the summer. For this festive season, the team has taken the unChristmassy them of Moulin Rouge, transforming its urban space into a glittering, Parisian dream, channelling love, beauty, truth and freedom.

The transformation is complete with the presence of a twinkling red windmill, and an absinthe bar, inviting guests to make a date with the green fairy before indulging in a platefuls of cheese and a glass of wine in its heated wigwam.
