Château Mouton Rothschild “Nebuchadnezzar” broke new auction record
A bottle of Château Mouton Rothschild “Nebuchadnezzar” vintage 2000 was sold for HK$1,091,200 in Hong Kong at Bonham’s latest fine wine sale.
Held on 10 September, Bonhams Hong Kong Fine and Rare Wine sale achived a 93% sell-through rate by value. A bottle of Château Mouton Rothschild 15 litre bottle – also known as the “Nebuchadnezzar” – from the legendary vintage of 2000 was sold at HK$1,091,200. This sets the new auction record for a Château Mouton Rothschild Nebuchadnezzar, eclipsing the previous record of HK$918,750.
Daniel Lam, Bonhams Director of Wine and Spirits Asia, commented: “We are delighted to set a new auction record the first time we sold this iconic bottle in the Asia market and to an Asian collector. This testifies for the maturity and diversity of the wine market in the region.”
Other notable results of the sale include six bottles of Château Petrus 2010 (sold for HK$198,400), ten bottles of Château Mouton Rothschild 2000 (sold for HK$198,400) and six bottles of Château Petrus 1998 (sold for HK$173,600).
