Clay signs up Scandinavian star

A cult craft brewer from Norway is the latest addition to the portfolio of speciality world beer importer James Clay.

Clay is bringing half a dozen beers from Nøgne-ø, a maverick micro founded in Grimstad back in 2002. Pronounced “Non-Yay” and meaning “Naked Island”, Nøgne-ø are two former home-brewers who produce an esoteric and often American-influenced array of ales.

“Nøgne-ø is a brand that’s synonymous with the craft ale movement. We’ve selected six beers from their impressive range to import regularly, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they are received by British publicans and consumers,” said Nigel Stevenson of James Clay.

Aimed at connoisseur outlets and specialist beer bars, there will be six bottled beers available including a Pale Ale; a Saison; an IPA, a Porter and an Imperial Stout with a 9% abv as well as an Imperial Brown Ale.
